About Karen Strangfeld

Karen Strangfeld

I'm a New England native, with a BA in Studio Art, Art History, Museum Studies. I've spent over a decade working at one of Boston's largest art museums, and now live out in a tiny town in northern central New England. My painting style is loose modern impressionist landscapes and cityscapes. I see my work as being similar to a novelist exploring a new character. A brushstroke goes down as a sentence, and the next one becomes more clear. I meet the character as I create it. And I learn a bit more about myself with each new work. I believe that a painting should be something that shows you something new every time you look at it. Whether about yourself, and your reaction to it, or just an element in the scene you hadn't noticed...
